Revolutionary Car Simulator delivered to Monash University

21 July, 2011

Sydac’s Reality Manager Simulation technology mimics real life driving scenarios. Working closely with Holden, SYDAC modelled the vehicle and interfacing directly into the car’s IT and electrical systems. The only existing simulator technology reused, is the projection systems and motion base.

A computer replaces the engine, recording information straight from the clutch, the accelerator and the lights on the dashboard. Cameras inside the car analyse driver’s vision. Fake noises and changes in radio volume analyse driver distraction.

Data from the simulator will enable Monash to undertake driver distraction and drug and alcohol research, in-vehicle design improvements, vision impairment studies and assist in the creation of young-driver training programs.
