Live3D display technology

Sydac has developed and patented a display technology to enhance vision system in rail simulators. This display technology, Live3DTM, uses real time tracking to identify the trainee’s viewing point and then correct the perspective of the displays.

Therefore the trainee can move his head around and see the same image on the window as he would in a real window. Without this technology, the vision system has a “painted window” feel as there is no parallax change with the direction of gaze.

Furthermore this technology allows a very large field of view to be achieved as the field of view changes with the trainee’s view point. In other words the trainee can look around the scene by moving his head.

Another advantage of this technology is the ability to realise high fidelity windscreen effects such as rain, snow, dirt, cracked windscreen etc. Dynamically changing the perspective further enhances the feel of these effects.

The Live3DTM display technology uses non intrusive optical tracking to monitor the driver’s position. This does not require the driver to wear any tracking devices.
